City Clerk Issues Marriage License
With the judge's Order for Marriage Without Delay, we walked to the Northampton City Hall to file our Notice of Intention to Marry and receive our Marriage License.
The City Clerk was very nice and helpful, telling us exactly how to complete the application ... to wait for her before signing at the bottom ...and verifying that our Minister was properly credentialed with the state to solemnize our vows.
She verified everything on our application, looked at the judge's order to waive the 3-Day Waiting Period. Then she said "now you will be taking an oath with me, so give us your cell phone and raise your right hand and repeat after me".

We did not understand why we had to surrender our cell phones in order to take an oath with the City Clerk. Our phones were already on vibrate, so it is not like an incoming call would distract us. She saw the confused look on our faces and said with a big smile "This is a big moment for you, so if you give us your cell phone we will take pictures for you as it is happening".
Now with everything Signed, Rubber Stamped, Sealed and Delivered, certain that our marriage could legally take place on Saturday, we had time to handle a few errands around town, which started with a wonderful new coffee and bakery called Tart.
Their specialty that kept us coming back was a fresh baked baguette with thinly sliced fine ham and artisan cheese rolled inside the dough before it rises and bakes the next morning. Since they have to rise all night, they estimate how many will be needed the next day, and once they are gone they are gone until tomorrow. They have other delicious treats, but just the fact that you missed the last ham & cheese baguette by 12:53 in the afternoon, you are pretty much set on having one by that point!
And their coffees are perfect -- my best pick-me-up was a large dark hot chocolate, with 2 shots of very dark espresso added. That one kept me going through the rest of the night!
But full disclosure is that another reason we kept going back was because the service was so easy and friendly. The Tart staff realized when we first walked in that we were "Julie's Uncles who are Getting Married", so we felt right at home enjoying our pastries and coffee.
