Dinner with Mike and Julie, and last minute details
On Wednesday night, after getting our marriage license, we met Mike and Julie for a very special dinner in Amherst for the 4 of us. We ate at a restaurant called The Lumberyard.
Then after dinner, we went to Mike and Julie's house to take care of last minute assembly of the gift bags we made for our guests.
Well . . . Julie helped me with the gift bags, while Ralph showed Mike some Stuart family slides that his dad had meticulously saved, mounted in metal, labeled and filed. He had a special bag packed with the slides and one of his dad's original slide viewers.
When we were packing for the trip, Ralph realized that his dad's slide viewer needed a new bulb (after being in storage all these years). He said "My dad would have hidden an extra bulb in the case", and he went right to it. Of course, it was just as old, and we ultimately had to get a new bulb for the viewer, but the Stuart family slides were a fun aside with all the family together to enjoy them.
